Carineta formosa cantando).
Taphura sp, one of the smallest cicadas in the world
I found this cicada during my vacation in Porto Seguro, Bahia, more exactly on the Taípe beach in Arraial da Ajuda village. Tiny cicada (ONE OF THE SMALLEST ONES IN THE WORLD), has 1 cm in length (not counting the wings). Its color is mostly gray-green (including eyes), having an almost white belly and transparent wings, with no distinctive design. I was mistaken in believing it was a Carineta fasciculata, just for the simple fact that it looked phisically quite similar to a Carineta formosa (only much less colorful), and had a very similiar song (see YouTube link with a video of a beautiful Carineta formosa singing). ITS REAL ID is Taphura spp; I apologize to readers for the mistake. Talking about it, the song is a pulsing and fairly fast continuous buzz . Another cicada eith a very similar song is Diceroprocta vitripennis, in the USA.
